From the factory floor to the orbital frontier — a practitioner-researcher building the bridge between circular economy principles and the future of sustainable space.
I began as an apprentice tool and die maker in Germany in 1992. Sustainability was absent from our textbooks. The focus was precision and throughput — not what happened after production. That gap never left me.
Three decades later, I have moved from factory floors to university lecture halls, from software startups to the International Space University, and from the Rust Belt to Luleå, Sweden — always asking the same question: what happens when we are done with it?
My PhD at Luleå University of Technology answers that question for satellites. The result is Design for Spacecraft Reuse (DfSR) — a systems framework that embeds circularity into satellite design before a single component is ever fabricated.
I am also director of advisory firm Pulsernity, co-founder of Circulate360, and a frequent speaker on circular economy, industrial transformation, and the future of sustainable space operations.
Creator and lead researcher of the DfSR concept. Developed orbital-regime-conditioned design support tools for satellite reusability — from theoretical framework to practical early-stage decision aids.
Four-year research program at the intersection of product innovation and space systems. Expert in 10R strategies, fragmentation analysis, CE adoption barriers, and coordinated implementation in industrial space systems.
Co-author of peer-reviewed research on regulation as a driver of circular innovation. Practical expertise in how guidance versus governance shapes industrial behavior in high-stakes technology sectors.
22+ years in digital transformation, sustainable manufacturing, and reindustrialization. Founder of the Circular Impact Hub in Ohio. Advisory work across Europe, the Americas, and the space industry.
Strategic advisory on circular, resilient supply chains for sectors at the intersection of defense, advanced manufacturing, and NewSpace. Practitioner experience from multiple continents and industries.
Expert perspective on how aerospace and defense technologies create civilian spillovers — and how circular design principles built for space can transform terrestrial manufacturing.
Peer-reviewed papers spanning spacecraft reuse, circular economy in space, regulation, and sustainable industrial design.
